Matt McCurrachPast President, Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA)

    Matt McCurrach is the Past President of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA), where he represented builders, renovators, and developers across Canada during his 2024–2025 term as National President. A second-generation builder, Matt leads Homex Development Corporation, the company founded by his father Peter, who has been a CHBA Central Interior member for more than 50 years. Homex operates in multiple divisions, including land acquisition, development, civil works, and the construction of both multi-family and single-family homes.

    Matt’s hands-on experience in the industry began in his teenage years, sweeping job sites before moving on to water and sewer installation. He later earned his Red Seal in carpentry in 2005 and has since worked through every facet of the business, developing both practical expertise and strategic insight.

    For nearly 18 years, Matt has been a dedicated volunteer within CHBA at the local, provincial, and national levels. He served as President of CHBA Central Interior (2013–2016) and later as President of CHBA BC (2018–2019). Following this, he chaired CHBA BC’s Government Relations Committee (2019–2022), advancing key advocacy priorities on behalf of the residential construction industry. At the national level, Matt served on CHBA’s Executive Committee beginning in 2019, advancing through leadership roles before being elected National President in 2024.

    Throughout his leadership journey, Matt has remained committed to making CHBA leadership approachable and member-driven. Known for his approachable and empathetic style, he continues to champion housing affordability, industry collaboration, and long-term resilience.
