Mayor Mat Siscoe has served as Mayor of St. Catharines since November 2022, bringing over a decade of municipal leadership and a deep commitment to community development. Prior to his current Mayoral term, he represented St. Patrick’s Ward on City Council from 2010 to 2022 and was appointed to Niagara Regional Council in 2021. In addition to his political service, Mayor Siscoe spent 15 years as a high school physics teacher, shaping the next generation with a focus on education, equity, and opportunity.
As Mayor, he has prioritized building a vibrant, inclusive city through strategic investment in housing, infrastructure, and social supports. A notable initiative under his leadership is the creation of the St. Catharines OutReach and Engagement (SCORE) Fund, which empowers local non-profits and strengthens community support systems – reflecting his broader vision for a resilient, people-focused City.
Mayor Siscoe currently serves as Chair of both the Niagara Transit Commission and the Niagara Regional Housing Board of Directors, roles in which he actively advocates for integrated transportation and attainable housing solutions. He is also Co-Chair of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative and a member of the Municipal Finance Sub-Committee for Ontario’s Big City Mayors, where he works to ensure strong fiscal frameworks that support sustainable urban growth.
A lifelong resident of the Niagara region, Mayor Siscoe brings a collaborative, future-focused approach to leadership, one that aligns closely with the values and goals of the Ontario Home Builders’ Association. He is committed to fostering partnerships that support responsible development, enhance housing affordability, and create complete communities across Ontario.
Mayor Siscoe lives in St. Catharines with his wife Chrissy, their four children – Xavier, Canaan, Darius, and Sophia – and a lively household of pets. His dedication to public service is inspired by his family, his students, and the people of St. Catharines.
